Santa Rosa ridge, Toro Peak to Anza Borrago

SANTA ROSA RIDGE
BUSHWACKING AND SCRAMBLING (AKA HIKING)


We had been looking at it and talking about it for years. Now we were actually going to do it. We camped at the end of the road, just below the top of Toro Peak in the San Bernardino National Forest. Below us we could see the lights of Indio and the Cochella valley. For this adventure we had a group of five, the usual suspect on hikes like this, Bob Conklin, Chris Neosser, Jesse Beck, My brother in law Dennis Van Fossen on his first hike with us and myself. What we were planning to do was hike the Santa Rosa ridgeline from Toro peak past Rabbit and Villager peaks all the way to highway S22 in Anza Borrego. On the topo, this measured out to about 25 miles. However the ridge is not straight so we really didn
